A New Season
We love a change of season, don’t we? We look forward to wearing our sweatshirts, or maybe you’re someone who cannot wait to walk outside and melt from the humidity? Either way, starting something new can feel refreshing. We are starting something new in Origins Kids!
Actually, a couple of new things- for one thing, this blog! It will be used in many different ways in the future, but for this first post, we get to share the heart behind why we are starting our new summer schedule.
What’s Changing This Summer?
This summer, all elementary-aged children, including Lower Elementary and 4 and 5 year old will begin Sunday mornings in the main service, worshiping through song with their families. After the worship portion, they will be dismissed to their classes for a Bible lesson with their peers. Our two- and three-year-olds and nursery-aged children will continue to have classrooms available starting at 9:20.
The Importance of Worshiping Together
Worshipping through song is pleasing to the Lord (Psalm 98, Colossians 3, Ephesians 5). We do this together on Sundays, and including kids in praise is another way to model for them our Worship. We know that kids watch us and learn, so why wouldn’t we want to include them in the songs we sing to the Lord?
Supporting and Caring for Volunteers
We also want to care for our volunteers. We have many faithful volunteers who serve every single month. Serving is an act of worship, and we know that even though we may never see the fruits of our labor, we trust that our service and love for kids are worth it. Adults being able to worship through songs with the rest of our faith family, hopefully, will help to prepare their hearts as they go and teach scriptures and share the gospel with kids.
What About Younger Children?
Our two and three year olds and babies are always welcome to worship with families; however, these classes will welcome kids at 9:20!
Thank you to our faith family for welcoming kids and making a place for them to grow in their love for Jesus.
