Hey, Origins Greenville, we want to take a moment and share some exciting news that you may have missed if you were not there on Sunday.

2026 is gonna be a year of maybe some changes and some fun, but a lot of prayer.

Looking at Luke 14

On Sunday, we looked at Luke chapter 14, where Jesus is talking to the multitudes that were following him, and he began to discuss what it meant to be a disciple and what it took. One of the things that he discussed is counting the costs. He wanted to prepare the people that were following him so that they knew, when things came up, that they were prepared and that there was going to be some work and some costs involved in following him.

A Look Back: Our Story as a Church

As a church, we've had a pretty amazing existence. God's been gracious. We've been around for about 16 years, a little over.
Origins started just as a couple small groups — one small group as a matter of fact — that multiplied into two. We met monthly, then gathered twice a month, and eventually we gathered every week for worship.

We met in a place called Spill the Beans, thanks to the gracious generosity of the owners. We outgrew that place at some point. God moved us to the Old Cigar Warehouse where we gathered weekly and in community groups around the city.

The Old Cigar Warehouse allowed us to grow a bit more — to further reach people with the gospel, to see people declare Jesus as their Lord, to see people baptized, and to see people grow in their understanding of who they were in relation to God and what God desired of them. And it's been fun.

Eventually, God moved us to Zen, where we are now, and it’s been amazing. It’s been plenty of great space for us to do all the things God has called us to do — to grow and to thrive and mature in our faith and our understanding of who we are as a church.

Why We’re Asking “What’s Next?”

It’s become evident to us, as a church on mission for the Lord, that it is probably time for us to ask the question: what is next?

As a church, we exist to make disciples who love God, love one another, and love the city. We desire to continue to do that, but we are running out of space at Zen.

We also desire to be a church that replicates, that multiplies, that plants another church in another part of the upstate that needs the gospel. Where we are now, we’re a bit limited on that. We need to take another step of growth.

What Leadership Has Been Considering

As leadership, we have looked at this and prayerfully considered what this is going to take. We need a bit more room, a bit more people, and a bit more finances in order to multiply and replicate ourselves somewhere else.

So it’s time for us to start praying. It’s time for us to start asking God:
“Where do you want us to go?”
“How do you want us to get there?”
“Would you make a way for this to happen?”

Monthly Churchwide Fasting & Prayer

Starting in 2026, one of the things we’re going to do is have one day a month in which we fast and pray.

As a church family, we will send out guides explaining:

  • what that day will look like

  • how we’re going to do it

  • Scripture we will read

  • prayers we will pray as a family

We want to ask God these questions and gain wisdom from Him. We want Him to be at the helm and guide this process.

How the Church Family Can Participate

We’re asking for a couple of things:

1. Be All In

If you are in with us as family, be all in. Remember why we’re here. Partner with us on mission. Continue to invite, show up, and share your story. We have great expectations of what God is going to do with all of these things.

2. Pray Fervently With Us

We want to be united in seeking God so we know what he desires and how we’re going to get there. No major move of God has ever happened without it first being bathed in prayer. We don’t want to force this or make this happen on our own. We want this to be a work of God.

Our Heart as We Begin This Process

As we begin to pray through this — and you can begin now — we want to seek God's wisdom, direction, and provision.
We ask that you would be a part.

We know a couple of things. We know God is not done. We know that his kingdom needs to grow. We know that his glory needs to be great. And we want to do everything according to his will and his plan.

So be a part of Origins, be in with Origins, but more importantly, let’s seek God and His desires and His will for what He wants for His kingdom.

Looking Ahead With Expectation

We’re excited about the days ahead. We know they may look different. We know there are things we may not expect that are going to happen. But we know that if we are doing this according to God’s will, it is going to be good. And we want you to be with us.

Would you start praying now?
And would you be with us as we fast and pray?

We know this may be a discipline that a lot of us have not done very often or entered into. It may be the first time for many of us. But if we’re doing it together, how bad can it be?
And we’re looking for God to do great things.

Thanks for your time.
Look forward to seeing you soon.
