Two Sundays ago, Kailee Wood lead our prayer time focusing on Food for the Hungry (FH). She shared about her own experience and how she and her husband, Taylor, have been sponsoring a child since 2023. The kids in Caquipec are just like our kids at Origins. Some are energetic and talkative, while others are shy and a bit reserved. When Taylor first met Lidia, she was so shy, timid, and did not want to speak, but the Lord has been kind to let the Woods see that relationship grow over the past 3 years. This year at their visit, Lidia asked for a hug! That may seem simple but it’s a big deal! Kailee said, that “they are real people and real relationships.” This is proof that the way Origins “shows up year in and year out creates trust and a greater opportunity for them to hear, know, and respond to the Gospel, which is the ultimate goal.”
This week, spend time praying for your sponsor child. Thank God that you have been given the privilege of this relationship and ask Him how you can invest in it going forward. Pray that all sponsor children and families will know that the reason we visit and send letters is ultimately because of Jesus, and how much He loves all of us. Please pray for FH staff and their recent staff restructure, that community support continues during time of transition.

***Food for the Hungry is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to “collaborate with local leaders to co-create solutions that build resilience by strengthening mental, physical and spiritual well-being.” Origins has been partnering with FH since 2019, and we have specifically adopted the community of Caquipec While visiting Caquipec over the past several years, we have had the opportunity to sit in on a variety of classes that teach parents about hand washing to prevent disease, the benefits of breastfeeding to combat malnutrition, ways to save money and start businesses, and more – all to educate with the goal that these practices will continue and be self-sustaining. We have also sat in on child Bible classes and teen classes that teach how to recognize, report, and prevent different types of violence in the home. We have seen great progress since 2019!
