A.J. Whittenberg Elementary School
As a church family in downtown, we desire to seek the good of our city and partner with those who are seeking to do the same! A.J. Whittenberg is an elementary school in downtown that seeks the good of their students in many ways. They offer a school-wide, engineering-focused curriculum for all their students. Pretty amazing! What's even more is that they care for their students outside of school hours as well.
It has come to the attention of the AJW staff that there are some kids in need of meals during the weekend. They have reached out to a handful of churches, including our Origins family, and asked if we would be willing to provide meals throughout the month. Of course, we said absolutely! So, twice during each month, we will be dropping off meals and snacks for the AJW staff to then give to their students as they head into the weekend. This will be a great opportunity for our church family to not only help serve a need with our new partnership, but also to build a healthy relationship with the AJW staff.
With this in mind, here are a few ways you can get involved:
1. Pray! Take time each Friday and pray for the twelve students who will receive a meal bag, that they will feel loved and full! Take time to praise God for the way He cares for these students and for the opportunity our church family has to seek the good of the students at AJW. Pray also that God would allow us to build healthy relationships with the AJW staff so that we can have repeated opportunities to share our hope in Jesus!
2. Serve! Two Thursdays each month, our pastors, Matthew and Zack, will be packing meal bags and dropping them off at AJW. If you have time on those Thursday afternoons and would like to help pack bags and drop them off, that would be a huge help and a great way for you to get involved. Reach out, and we will get those specific dates and times to you.
3. Give! Thank you, Origins family, for giving sacrificially and joyfully. Your generosity helps us serve the needs of our city partnerships and will impact our new partnership with AJW greatly. Continue to be steadfast in giving, just as in every other area of your walk with Christ. Thank you!
